On February 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, Valena Geneva Henry peacefully transitioned from this life at the age of 98. Born on February 2, 1928, she lived a long, beautiful, and meaningful life defined by strength, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Valena was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Henry Sr.; her parents, Ernest Dorsey Sr. and Florina Lee Dorsey; her children, Joe Joshuaway, Ronald Henry, Michael Henry, Florestine Laneaux, Roberta Hall, Mary Daniels, and Carolyn Henry; her grandson, Robert B. Henry Sr.; and her siblings, Wilbert Dorsey Sr., Herbert Dorsey, Ernest Dorsey Jr., and Eartha Acker.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving children: Robert Henry Jr., JW Henry, Herman Henry, and Janice Gillum. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to honor her legacy.

Valena was the heart and foundation of her family. Her home was filled with warmth, wisdom, laughter, and love. She carried herself with quiet strength and dignity, and her nurturing spirit touched generations. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the values she instilled, and the love she gave so freely.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her beautiful spirit will live on in their hearts forever.
