Minister Stevie Lloyd Benton, age 60, of Lafayette, LA, passed away on December 12, 2020, at his home. Born in Picayune, MS, Stevie was a licensed truck driver and the owner of Benton Transportation Services. He dedicated 30 years of his life as a Minister at Refuge Temple Ministries in Lafayette, LA, where he was a faithful church member. Stevie also served his country in the United States Army for 10 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Silvia Benton of Lafayette, LA; his son, Steven Benton of Lafayette, LA; and his five daughters: Charmere (Jermaine) Edwards, Stephanie Benton, Tamara Benton, Nekitha Roy of Lafayette, LA, and Tremeka Coleman of CA. He leaves behind 27 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers: Dr. William (Lillian) Mills of New Brunswick, NJ, and Tony "Sidney" Kirsh of Picayune, MS; and four sisters, Barbara "Jeanette" Walker, Shelia "Annette" Kirsh, and Carolyn Griffin of Picayune, MS, and Janie "Lois" Doss of Indianapolis, IN.

Stevie was preceded in death by his children, Dominick B. Benton, Sherman Coleman, and Silvania Benton; his parents, Razzie Benton and Ethel Mills Kirsh; and his siblings, Brenda Joyce Kirsh, L.W. Kirsh, Willie "Sonny" Kirsh, and Willard James Kirsh Jr.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at 3 p.m. at Rose Park Cemetery in Poplarville, MS, officiated by Pastor Adam LaDay. The burial will follow at the same location. A walk-through viewing will take place on the same day from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Baylous Funeral Home, and from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Rose Park Cemetery, under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
