Sgt. Gregory
Lamont Morgan
July 13, 1950 – July 10, 2020
Sgt. Gregory Lamont Morgan, a native of Chester, PA, and resident of Pearlington, MS, passed away on July 10, 2020, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital. He was a dedicated member of the Star Light Missionary Baptist Church, where he also participated in the Star Light Choir and the New Voices of Light Group. Gregory was a proud Masonic and served his country with honor, retiring from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He continued his commitment to service by working at the Veteran Hospital for an additional 10 years before retiring.
Gregory was known for his love of dressing well and his warm affection for people. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Wheat Green-Morgan of Pearlington, MS, and his children: Tamica Barnum, Lakyah Hatcher, Dana Morgan, and step-son Edmore Green III. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, his sisters Delores Lynn Morgan, Khadijah Renee Morgan, Sheila Ann Morgan, and his brother George Morgan, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hattie Morgan, his daughter Terri Morgan, and his siblings Justine Simmons, Lefenis Moran Morgan, and Wayne Morgan.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Star Light Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Shelby Durce. A wake through viewing will take place the same day from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church. Gregory will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
