Mary Louise Peters was the oldest daughter of the late Roosevelt Littles and Jessie Mae Haynes. She was born on Apr. 19, 1938, in Picayune, MS and transitioned from this earthly home on March. 12, 2026 at the age of 87.
Mary was baptized at an early age. As an adult, she joined and faithfully worshipped at New Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD.
May’s hobbies included cruising the world with her husband, Bobbie, and playing Mahjong with friends. Mary’s passion was cooking. She learned to cook from watching her aunts and cooking for her family was one of her greatest joys. It was her way of bringing everyone together for moments of love, laughter and connection.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Peters) Mattison and Nicole Peters; son-in-law, Dale Mattison; son, Freddie Littles; dearly beloved grandchildren, Danai Mattison, Doris Mattison and Monique Littles; two sisters, Yolanda Smith and Gina Anderson; two brothers, Freddie and James Littles; best friend of 80 years, Fannie McGee, and a host of relatives, extended family and friends who loved her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Bobbie J. Peters.
Mary will be remembered for the way she loved; quietly, deeply and through the care she gave to her family. Her presence was a comfort, her home a gathering place and her cooking a reflection of the love she carried and offered so naturally. Guided by her faith, she now rests in eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, strength and devotion that will live on in all who knew and loved her.
Services will be held Saturday, Apr. 4, 2026 at Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ, 500 N Beech St, Picayune, MS 39466. Visitation Hours will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will be held at the Picayune 8th Street Cemetery in Picayune, MS 39466. Baylous Funeral Home is honored to serve the family during this time.
