Ida Bowens, age 96, of Carriere, MS, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in Carriere, MS. A native of McNeil, MS, Ida was a dedicated hospital aide who retired from Crosby Hospital. She was a cherished member of the Picayune Church of Christ.

Ida is survived by her children, Mae (Ray) Wilson, Carl Abrams, Luther Bowens, Romalice (Allison) Bowens, Monroe (Emmie) Bowens, Earline Parker, Maudeline (Marsellas) Jones, and Gail Bowens (Floyd) Davis. She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Laverne and Claira Gines, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Early Bowens, her two brothers, Edward Earl Gines and Lawrence Gines, her son, Eardis Bowens, and her parents, Julius and Gennie Gines.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Picayune Church of Christ, located at 2005 Cooper Road, Picayune, MS, with Minister Mike Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
