Ella Mae Causey Cobb, born on July 25, 1945, in Tylertown, MS, to the late Nellie Mae Bridges and Mason Causey, passed away on August 2, 2025, at Highlands Community Hospital in Picayune, MS. As a young girl, her family moved to New Orleans, LA, where she was raised into adulthood. Ella married Leonard Cobb Jr. in New Orleans, and together they embarked on a journey as a proud Air Force family with their two children, Leonard and Leonora. Their travels took them to various places, including Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS; Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls, MT; MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL; Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, AK; Fort Lee in Hopewell, VA, and Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL, where they eventually retired. In 2019, Ella moved to Picayune, MS, to be closer to family after a hurricane destroyed her home in Panama City, FL.
Ella is survived by her son, Leonard Cobb III of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Leonora (Frederic) Jones of Panama City, FL; sisters, Cynthia Neal and Carlene McCaskill of New Orleans, LA, Barbara Ann Causey, Delores Roberts, and Thelma Flowers of Houston, TX; granddaughters, Gabrielle Cobb of Mansfield, TX, Savannah Cobb of Panama City Beach, FL, Elisha (Michael) Coker of Gulfport, MS, and Shani (Carl) Everett of Tampa, FL; grandsons, Frederic Jones of Panama City, FL, and Anthony Webb of Gulfport, MS; Goddaughters, Robin Gibson of LaPlace, LA, and Camille Miley of Panama City, FL, along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Cobb Jr; mother, Nellie Mae McCaskill; father, Mason Causey; brothers, Mason Causey Jr., Calvin "Cat" Causey, Clyde McCaskill, Percy Causey, Ed and Ted Causey; sisters, Carolyn McCaskill, Cathleen McCaskill, Linda Lou Causey, and Carolyn Bradford.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church, 921 Baylous St., Picayune, MS 39466. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Services are provided by Baylous Funeral Home, 300 N Baylous Ave., Picayune, MS 39466.
