Edgar Barnes Jr., age 63, of Pearlington, MS, passed away on February 4, 2023, at Slidell Memorial Hospital. A native of Pearlington, MS, Edgar was a dedicated member of Holmes Chapel United Methodist Church and worked as a professional truck driver.

He is survived by his daughter, Tawnya Lee Owens of Slidell, LA; his mother, Henrietta Barnes of Pearlington, MS; his sisters, Catherine Doby and Rita Barnes of Pearlington, MS, and Lauren Harry of Picayune, MS. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Nadiah Lee, Caleb, Cayla, and Chole Owens, all of Slidell, LA, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Edgar was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Barnes Sr., his step-father, John Acker, his sister, Loretta Barnes, and his nephew, Dorian Harry.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 11 am at Holmes Chapel United Methodist Church, with visitation from 10 am until 11 am.

Burial will follow in Lindsey Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral.
