Obituary

Dovie Williams, a native of Picayune, MS, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2021, at Ochsner Hospital in Slidell, LA, at the age of 74. She was a beloved member of the Weems Chapel United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Robert Pitman. Dovie graduated from George Washington Carver High School and was employed at the Blanket Factory before retiring from the Picayune School District as a bus monitor.

Dovie is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Scale of D'lberville, MS, and NaTia Williams-Allen (Keith Allen) of New Orleans, LA; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward William, Sr.; her parents, Robert and Mable Bogan; her siblings, Shirley, Jackie, and Doris; and her son-in-law, Nick Scales, Sr.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Bound Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Baylous Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
