Clydell Whitehead-Royal

We are saddened to announce Mrs. Clydell W. Royal entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2026 in Katy, TX and is now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Clydell was surrounded by family and loved ones when she peacefully passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 97.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, at New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church, 204 Virginia Ave, Picayune, MS 39466. Visitation Hours are from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Joey Mark will officiate the service.

Clydell was the oldest daughter of the late Lloyd and Iretha Whitehead. Born on July 2, 1928 in Picayune, MS. She was married to the late Stanley C. Royal Jr. over 60 years.

She joined and faithfully worshipped at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans under the leadership of Pastor Fred Luter Jr. During her stay in Picayune, after Hurricane Katrina, she attended New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Joey Marks. Clydell enjoyed caring and cooking for her family, it was always her greatest joy. It was her way of bringing everyone together for moments of love, laughter and connection. Her presence was a comfort, her home a gathering place and her cooking a reflection of the love she carried and offered so naturally. Guided by her faith, she now rests in eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, strength and devotion that will live on in all who knew and loved her.

Clydell was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Iretha Whitehead; her husband, Stanley C. Royal Jr.; daughter, Sammie Lou Bealer; son, Albert Welch Jr.; daughter-in-law, Dionne Royal, and siblings, Oreace Whitehead, Richard Whitehead, Jimmie Lou Cooper, Johnny Whitehead and Lloyd Whitehead.

She is survived by one son, Thaddeus Royal of Marrero, LA. and two daughters, Lena Whittaker of Carson, CA. and Zandra Pendarvis (Ralph) of Katy, TX; grandchildren, Charmaine Ross, Carson, CA., Joseph Bealer Jr. (Janet), Garland, Texas; Brandon Nelson (Chenelle), Lewis Center, Ohio, Albert Welch (Alberta), Damian Welch (Nicole), Malon Royal, Ambrosia Royal of New Orleans, LA., Charnele Romero (Mark), Corey Pendarvis of Cypress, TX, and great-grandchildren, Dereck Ross, Janelle Bealer, Joseph Bealer III, of Garland, TX, Amber Ross, Carson, CA., Brandy Welch, Brandon James, Jhaz Welch, Prymise Welch, Damian Welch Jr., Bailey Nelson, Virdis Mackel III, Kenneth Mcguire III, Madison Sturgis all of New Orleans, LA. She is also survived by her sisters, Zelma Whitehead of New Orleans, LA. and Barbara Whitehead of Picayune, MS.

Interment will take place in the 8th Street Picayune Cemetery following the Funeral Service under the director of Baylous Funeral Home.

There will be a Repast at New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church following the burial service located at 204 Virginia Avenue, Picayune, MS.
