Catherine Marie Johnson, age 91, of Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at her home. Catherine was known for her independence and talent, learning to sew at the young age of 12. She made clothes for her dolls and later for her children, showcasing her skills as a devoted mother and hard worker. She worked for many years at Stuff Shirts, Hotel Reed, and Mason Chamberlin to provide for her family, and later as a private caretaker for several families along the Gulf Coast, from which she retired. Catherine was also celebrated for her culinary skills, sharing her cooking and special fruitcakes with family and friends.

Catherine leaves to cherish many memories, her six children: Earl (Sally) Johnson of Las Vegas, NV, Julie (Billy) Barabino of Augusta, GA, Mark Johnson, Catherine Johnson, and Ted Johnson all of Bay Saint Louis, MS, and a devoted sister, Annette Johnson of Bay Saint Louis, MS. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Bit and Olivia Wilkerson Johnson, her son Wayne Guy Johnson, her brother Lester Johnson, and her sisters, Mary Saucier, Evelyn Gyins, Elouise Jones, and Ethel Fairconnetue.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at The Church of Our Lord Jesus, 2021 Waveland Kiln Cut Off Road, Waveland, MS, beginning at 11:00 am, with a viewing at 10:00 am - 10:55am. The committal service will take place at Saint Mary Cemetery, 304 South Necaise Avenue, Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi 39520, under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
