Brenda Lee Bender Breland, born on July 24, 1951, in Picayune, Mississippi, entered eternal rest on May 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Brenda was a devoted Christian, having accepted Christ at an early age at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Picayune, where she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher.

Brenda was a dedicated educator, spending 29 and a half years as a 5th grade teacher at Southside Elementary. Her passion for teaching and her commitment to her students left a lasting impact on countless lives. Brenda's legacy of kindness, resilience, and curiosity will continue to inspire the many students she mentored.

On December 31, 1970, Brenda married Larry Breland Sr. in Picayune, Mississippi. Together, they raised three children: Larry Breland Jr., Larenda Franklin, and Lorenzo Breland. Brenda's memory will be cherished by her husband of 51 years, her children, her grandchildren Ethan, Madelyn, and Breland Franklin, and her extended family, including her sisters, brothers, and many other relatives and friends.

Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Sandy and Johnnie Mae Bender, her sister Melveree Billings, and her brothers Andy and Donald Bender.

A Family Hour will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, 2106 Walker Street, Picayune, Mississippi. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ, 500 N. Beech Street, Picayune, Mississippi, followed by interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Wiggins, Mississippi. Professional services are entrusted to Baylous Funeral Home.
