Mrs. Betty Jean McGill Tillman, age 91, of Poplarville, MS, passed away recently. A native of Poplarville, MS, she was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Betty was an alumna of Alcorn State University, where she earned her degree in Education. She dedicated her career to teaching at Delta Elementary within the Chicago Public School System.

Betty is survived by her two sons, Gregory Tillman and Dwayne (Marion) Tillman, both residing in Poplarville, MS. She leaves behind a legacy through her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Her family also includes two brothers, Rev. Bobby (Melinda) McGill and Archie McGill, both of Poplarville, MS, along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Tillman, her sons Franks Tillman and Melvin Tillman, and her grandsons Demond Tillman and Brian Tillman. Her parents, Archie and Lula McGill, and her siblings, Henry Tillman, James McGill, Shirley McGill Collier, and Billy McGill, also predeceased her.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Poplarville, MS. Visitation will take place from 10 am until 11 am at the church. Betty will be laid to rest in Rose Park Cemetery, under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
